Ruto Speaks On Death Of Magistrate Monica Kivuti: “Should Never Happen Again”

Date:

President William Ruto has broken silence on the brutal shooting of Makadara Law Courts Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti, that led to her death.

In a statement on X, the head of state joined the nation in mourning her death, saying that attacks on any judicial officer is a crime, declaring that such an incident should never be witnessed again.

“I join the family, friends and the judicial fraternity in mourning the tragic death of Honorable Monica Kivuti who was serving as the Principal Magistrate of the Makadara Courts. The confrontation, threats or attacks of any form against judicial officers is unacceptable, criminal and an affront to the rule of law,” he said.

He noted that police are supposed to ensure safety and shouldn’t become a threat to the society.

“The Police exists to assure Kenyans of reliable security. Under no circumstances should they abandon this essential obligation or ever turn from their duty of protection and become threats to the safety and security of the people. What happened to Hon. Kivuti is unacceptable; it should never happen again,” Ruto added.

He further urged police officers to ensure that judicial officers are safe whenever they carry out their duties.

“We have lost a firm and hardworking judicial professional who served Kenyans with dedication. She still had a lot to offer to our country. I pray that the Almighty God grants you strength to bear this loss, and comfort you with divine solace. Rest In Peace, Hon. Kivuti,” Ruto said.
