Salasya Frustrated As Over 5000 Kenyans Call Him Over Finance Bill At Night

Date:

As Kenyans wait patiently for the budget to be read this Thursday,  Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has shared the frustrations he went through after his phone number was leaked on social media.

According to him, he received thousands of calls and messages with Kenyans urging him to vote no on the Finance Bill, that widely faced opposition.

Salasya however said that the National Assembly won’t be voting for the finance bill this Thursday.

“Who has shared my number on @x everybody across the nation is calling my number ,texting me and WhatsApping me I can’t sleep the phone is vibrating throughout ati I reject finance bill kesho na wananitumia shilingi moja kwa mpesa to confirm if its me.We are not voting tomorrow,” he said on a Facebook post.

On a separate interview, he revealed that he received over 5000 calls. According to him, this was part of an online campaign against the Finance Bill 2024, where Kenyans were urged to call their MPs to reject the bill.

Salasya however said that Kenyans should stop calling him, adding that his vote didn’t matter because Kenya Kwanza MPs are the majority.

Instead, he advised that they should call president William Ruto and question hin why he is imposing the bill to  them.

“There are almost 5,000 numbers here calling me. And some are Kenya Kwanza supporters calling me after they voted for President William Ruto. Why disturb me when I am an Azimio member?” he posed.

“From where I sit, even if I say I do not want to vote yes, as long as Kenya Kwanza people vote yes, they have numbers. There is nothing I can do.”

“The people who are calling should not bother. They should only focus on Kenya Kwanza as they are the ones who will determine what happens next,” Salasya said.
