Super Metro Expels Driver Captured Driving On Wrong Lane On Thika Road

Date:

Kenyans have been enraged after a video of a super metro mini-bus driving on the wrong side of the road  along Thika road surfaced online.

The video showed the driver of the bus reversing and making a U-turn in the wrong lane before speeding off against traffic.

In a statement, the Super Metro revealed that the driver has since been arrested because of his actions

“Following today’s incident of one of our drivers on Thika Road we would like to inform the public that the driver has been apprehended by our company inspectors following his misconduct of making a U-turn on the Thika Super highway, endangering other road users.

“He was submitted to Central Police station then later picked by Pangani police station where the incident was reported. From there he will be arraigned in court. Thank you for your continued support,” the bus management said.

The company CEO Nelson Nduki also noted that the conductor of the bus was addressed. The suspects will then be handed over to NTSA for further action after their day in court.

“Immediately after that, we are going to hand them over to NTSA (National Transport and Safety Authority) who are our regulators so that they can equally take action against them,” the CEO said.

“For us, we have already expelled them from Super Metro. We believe that a driver cannot reverse without collaborating with the conductor. It is now in the hands of the government to charge them in a court of law,” he further said.
