Public Service CS Moses Kuria has said that the country is not doing well in dealing with ‘ghosts’ considering that it is very religious.
According to him, the ghosts have occupied all sectors including education and funds for the elderly.
Therefore, Kuria said that his ministry is embarking on measures that will help eradicate the problem in public service, as prayers to exorcise the ghosts continue.
“As a country that is very religious, we are not doing very well in chasing away ghosts. This country is full of ghosts. We are paying ghost civil servants, ghost teachers. We are spending capitation on ghost students. We are sending cash transfers to ghost elderly citizens.
“As we accelerate our prayers to exorcise ghosts, the Ministry of Public Service will embark on biometric registration of all the 900,000 of us who are paid by the taxpayers including counties. A payroll audit is also underway,” Kuria said on X.
While taking over the ministry on October 16, 2023, Kuria vowed to clean the ministry by announcing reforms that he would effect.
“It’s my vision that I’ll be able to transit public servants from public employment, where most of them believe they are in, to public service where the 900,000 of us should be, to serve the 54 million Kenyans as they deserve,” Kuria stated.
“Delivery and performance of civil servants has been dear to my heart, and am here to re-engineer deliverance of Govt services to the people of this country as H.E.President William Ruto desires.”
