Sonko Vows to Sponsor Edna Owour After Court Directive on Kiptum’s Burial

Date:

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has pledged to support woman claiming to the late Kelvin Kiptum’s baby mama, Edna Owour in her quest for justice.

Sonko pledged to support her legal representation to get the bottom of the matter.

“I am equally committed to advocating for justice and recognition for the baby mama of our fallen hero Kelvin kiptum,” Sonko stated.

“I will personally sponsor and support the necessary legal processes to ensure that she receives the justice and recognition she deserves from the athlete’s family. Every individual’s rights and dignity must be upheld, and I am dedicated to seeing that principle realized in this case.”

Sonko made it clear that he would have raised the issue with President William Ruto if he had made it to the funeral the way he fought for the widow of the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth.

This is after the High Court  declined to grant orders halting the burial of world marathon record holder.

In her application before the court in Eldoret, 22-year-old Edna Awuor Otieno claimed that the late Kiptum is the biological father of her baby girl, now aged one year and seven months.

She sought to stop the burial pending the hearing and determination of the case where she is seeking to be recognised together with her baby as beneficiaries of the marathoner’s estate.
