Police are probing an incident where 16 children, aged 2-16 years, were found confined in a house in Kayole.
Police raided the house, a two-roomed rental house, in Nyando area after receiving information from Daniel Odongo, a children protection officer in Embakasi Central Constituency.
Odongo reported to the police about the presence of children in the house, leading to the arrest of a Kenyan Woman, Linet Akinyi and a Tanzanian national named Isaack Mwanjeka.
The duo however couldn’t explain to the police why they had the minors in their custody.
Police suspect that the children are from the country and Tanzania, and were to smuggled to a destination that is yet to be identified.
“Some of the children are as young as two years. It is a hard task to even take care of such young ones,” Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei.
The children are currently at a private children’s home in the area as probe into the matter continues.
Bungei called upon the public to help contain the crime.
