The Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority (KTTA) has defended Charlene Ruto after Kenyans questioned her role as Kenya’s Blood Ambassador following the Embakasi gas explosion that left three people dead and over 270 injured.
In a statement, the authority noted that Charlene was properly executing her role despite her silence.
“A lot happens behind the curtains for effective service delivery and a healthier nation aligned with Universal Health Coverage,” the Authority stated.
“While not all efforts are publicised, we are actively on the ground with our blood ambassadors for the Embakasi tragedy.”
The First Daughter’s silence was questioned as many Kenyans and leaders asked Kenyans tom donate blood to help the victims yet she said nothing despite being at the helm of the authority mandated to advocate for that.
However, the authority cleared the air showing her engaging in other blood donation drives.
“Together with many selfless and intentional Kenyans, we managed to collect over 50 pints of blood,” she stated.
According to President William Ruto’s daughter, the blood will go a long in improving health and saving lives in emergencies for many of those in need.
The first daughter had been appointed to the position by Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha.
