In October 2016, Terryanne Chebet lost her lucrative job at Citizen TV when she had just taken a loan of Kshs4 million.
According to her, she was left in a limbo but she talked to her bank and was given another repayment plan.
“When I lost my job, I had just taken a loan which I put part of it to my mum’s house. The day I got my letter I had a loan of Kshs4 million and then you are like where I am going to start.
“I didn’t want to sell any property to get make sure that that gets done but I managed. I talked to the bank, I tried to get a payment plan with a different amount so that I am able to,” she said during the latest episode of KTN’s Art of living.
After Citizen TV, where she hosted business news, Terryanne featured in several TV stations before she completely went off-screen.
The 44-year old however doesn’t plan on making a TV comeback as an anchor, saying that she has gained enough experience to be a leader.
“I don’t think I want to be on TV. I want to drive, I want to lead, I want to use the lessons I have learnt to positively impact the channel that I work for now. I don’t even think I am great at interviews any more and I really think I was good at it now I look at it and I am like ‘Oh my God she is such a good anchor’ and am like ‘Was I ever that good?’ I have gained enough experience to lead, to manage, so that is the space I want to focus on,” she said.
Terryanne began her media career in 2004 at KBC. In 2007, she joined CNBC and later CCTV Africa.
In 2010, she joined Citizen and was fired 6 years later. After Citizen TV, she joined Fanaka TV as CEO and later served as Metropol TV’s general manager.
In January 2023, she announced her return to CNBC as a senior news correspondent and leading business development in Kenya.
“My first meeting of the year I’m so excited to join Africa’s leading business news channel as a senior news correspondent and leading business development in Kenya,” she said then.
