Alarm As 25 Lions Are Captured Roaming Freely Along Nyeri-Nyahururu Highway

An alarm has been raised after about 25 lions were spotted along Nyeri-Nyahururu highway at night.

Cate Wambugu, a renown apple farmer from Laikipia county encountered the lions on Wednesday night while returning from a trip from Zimbabwe.

She went on to caution people using the road especially at night to be careful.

“After landing to Kenya from Zimbabwe this is what welcomed the Ambassador back at round 2240hrs. Almost 25 lions along Nyeri Nyahururu road place called Solio ranch sleeping n playing,” she shared on Facebook.

After passing the lion, Wambugu and her companions came across a motorcyclist who was heading towards where the lions were.

They had to stop him and warn him of the danger.

They further proceeded to a police station to report the matter.

“After driving away like 2kms from where the lions were sleeping n playing we met a motorbike coming towards the many lions n my heart was beating 1000 times n we had to stop n quickly told the man in the bike to go back n we couldn’t move before he turns because uuuuuuuuuu the danger ahead was big.

“Immediately we went to the next police station to report. Kindly if u are using this road at night always be careful. Tag someone to tag someone,” she said.

The Kenya Wildlife Service is yet to issue a respond to the matter.
