Passengers Left In Shock As Plane Loses Rear Door While In The Air

Date:

An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 with 177 passengers and crew was forced to make an emergency landing after losing its rear exit door while in the middle of the flight.

The frightening incident occurred on Friday, 35 minutes after the plane had just taken off.

The plane was turned back to California and it landed safely in Portland.

“There was a really loud bang towards the left rear of the plane and a woosh noise – and all the air masks dropped.

“They said there was a kid in that row who had his shirt was sucked off him and out of the plane and his mother was holding onto him to make sure he didn’t go with it,” one of the passengers said.

“Part of the plane was missing and the wind was just extremely loud. but everyone was in their seats and had their belt on,” another passenger shared her experience with another referring to the flight as a trip from hell.

Boeing said it is aware of the incident and is gathering more information on the same while  UK Civil Aviation Authority told  BBC that it was monitoring the situation very closely.

Meanwhile, Alaska Airlines has grounded its 65 737 Max 9 planes for inspection.

“Each aircraft will be returned to service only after completion of full maintenance and safety inspections,” Alaska Airlines’ CEO Ben Minicucci said
