The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC) has addressed reports of raiding Siaya governors home.
The reports emerged online on January 5, claiming of an ongoing raid. In the image that was captured as breaking news, Orengo’s photo was placed alongside EACC’s logo.
“5/1/2024. Ongoing raid! more update to follow,” the report stated.
Responding to the report, EACC however flagged it as fake news on its official X account.

This however comes at a time when EACC is targeting governors and county officials from 35 counties, over embezzlement of public funds by using proxy companies.
“Some are going even to the extent of using interns and young people on attachment to open proxy companies that are later used to steal public funds,” the commission stated.
Recently, the commission caught up with Vihiga’s County Chief Officer for Education Dr. Noel Malanda, for suspected extortion, kickbacks and other forms of corrupt conduct.
“She is believed to be running a graft scheme in her docket where she demands hefty kickbacks before any contract award and further before any payments are made for completed works.
“In this particular case, the suspect demanded Kes. 200,000 from a trader who had supplied ECD Certificates as a condition for approving his payment of Kes. 1.8 Million. During the arrest, the Commission recovered Kes. 400,000 in her office believed to be part of the money extorted from contractors. The suspect was unable to account for the seized funds,” EACC said in a statement.
