Minister Sues Wife And Producers Over Real Housewives Of Nairobi Reality Show

Date:

The husband of one of the casts of Kenya’s popular reality show, Real Housewives of Nairobi, has sued the producers of the show alongside his wife.

The man, moved to court lamenting about his wife and the production team, for involving their four children in the show without his consent.

The complainant is a cabinet minister in a foreign country and his wife lives in their home in Nairobi, Kenya.

He says that the filming of the show occurred in their matrimonial home, making it an unsuitable environment for them to continue living in.

“The filming and broadcasting covers aspects of my wife’s life in her marriage to me and her life as a mother to the children which I didn’t agree to,” he said in court papers.

He adds that about September 2022, the production team contacted them for his wife to be featured in the show.

They however did not agree to it because she had had a health issue that needed her to undergo surgery. To his surprise, his wife went on to appear in the show, that was filmed at their home as well as other locations.

He complains that the show captures the good and bad side of their marriage and his fears are that he might be subjected to ridicule and mockery.

The minister is seeking the court to bar the producers of the show, Young Rich Television Limited, from filming the minors and airing his marriage and children on any network.

“I have no problem with her taking part in the reality show but her participation should be without any mention of the children or myself either in my capacity as her husband, father of the children or my position as a leader,” the husband said.

The main casts of the show that ran from February 2023 to May 2023 on Showmax, are socialite Vera Sidika, Susan Kaittany, Lisa Christoffersen, Minne Kariuki (all have two children each), Sonal Maherali who is a mother of four and Dr. Catherine Masista a mother of one.
