Ruto Announces Lucrative Deals With Meta, Google And Hollywood

President William Ruto has revealed that Hollywood movies will soon be shot in Kenya.

In his speech during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations, Ruto said that the country has partnered with Grammy Awards, that will foresee the shooting of Hollywood movies happening in the country.

“This administration has taken deliberate to build and invest in creative economy. First, the famous  Grammy awards have a partnership with us  and starting January, the innovation studios of Hollywood have agreed to begin shooting multiple movie rights here in Kenya,” Ruto said.

He also said that he had partnered with Google so that primary and secondary school children can be taught coding.

“Google, in collaboration with the ministry of Education and ICT has begun implementing a Kenya Institute of Curriculum Education Sponsored coding programme in primary and secondary school to reach 4 million learners the partnership will also train 42,000 teachers.”

The head of state further revealed that he had struck a deal with meta to ensure that Kenyan content creators earn from their content on Facebook and Instagram.

“I have good news for our creatives and those who imagine and produce content through Facebook and Instagram. Just yesterday, Meta committed to helping creators in Kenya earn money for crafting original content,” he said.

“Following a pilot programme with eligible creators in the country, Meta will be expanding monetization opportunities and allowing more creators to earn a living doing what they love,” he added.
