Please Leave! Makau Mutua Dares Azimio Members Opposing NADCO Report

Date:

Prof Makau Mutua has dared Azimio members opposed to the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report to leave for undermining the coalition.

The scholar argued that the report was a product of a democratic process supported by Azimio from the start.

“Azimio isn’t a forced marriage. Please leave if you can’t support the NADCO report which is the product of the party’s agreed democratic processes,” Makau Mutua wrote on X formerly known as Twitter.

Among those who openly opposed the report included Martha Karua and Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) leader, Eugene Wamalwa.

Karua argued that the report failed to address key issues raised by Azimio including lowering the cost of living, audit the 2022 polls and ways of protecting political parties.

“While concluding in the NADCO Report, we have to say, it has nothing to alleviate the suffering of citizens but it offers goodies to the leadership. This is totally unacceptable. It is a fraud upon Kenyans. It should be frowned upon and rejected. It is a distracting national smokescreen,” Karua said.

“In any talks, the part that makes the talks succeed is the party in power. These talks have failed because the Kenya Kwanza regime and Ruto himself have nothing but contempt for Kenyans. You fool around for 8 months and you come with 0 results,” she added.

Similar sentiments were raised by Wamalwa who refused to sign the report.

Raila is yet to give is comprehensive analysis of the report.

However, President William Ruto vowed to support the implementation of the report’s findings.
