“They Went Where Floods Were” Gachagua Blames Some Kenyans Who Drowned In El Nino Rains

DP Rigathi Gachagua has blamed some of Kenyans who have been carried away by floods for being irresponsible with their lives.

Speaking on Tuesday during the official opening of the 17th annual planners’ convention, the second in commanded noted that the national government has come up with a strategic plan of dealing with the effects of El Nino.

He however called upon Kenyans to also be responsible as the government intervenes.

“The president chaired the cabinet to plan for El Nino and we came up with a strategic plan on how to deal with this emergency first and foremost we want to appeal to the people of Kenya to be also responsible. Out of the 87 deaths that have occurred due to El Nino 37 of them is by drowning  not floods getting into your house by you going to where floods are and daring nature.

“Kenyans are crossing rivers where they can see water are menacing and they are rough and they still insist that they are in a hurry to go somewhere but they never reach there. I want to appeal to the people of Kenya wherever they are to also be responsible,” he said.

He urged Kenyans to take care of their lives  and that of their families by avoiding such risks.

“As much as they are asking the government to intervene, how do we intervene when yourself get into a river and you can see the way it is flowing.

He further said that the national government has mobilized security personel in counties to ensure that people are responsible by stopping them whenever they want to take risks.
