Pinewood Beach Resort is making headlines after a CCTV footage, showing the hotel under attack surfaced online.
According to sources, the hotel has been attacked by goons on two occasions leaving staff and guests with injuries.
In one one of the incidents that occurred on November 17, 2023 goons hurling stones at staff and guests inside the resort.
They would later break in assaulting staff and guests and stealing from them.
The victims were captured running for safety as the attack continued. Other photos indicate guests and staff administering first aid to those who had been hurt.
Following the attacks, the hotel’s staff staged protests on Sunday demanding action from the government as well as stakeholders in the hospitality industry. The owner of the resort Alnoor Kanji however confirmed that no one was killed in the incident.
“Without the protection of armed police and the courage of our staff, this may not have been the case. Tourist police had to intervene with gunfire while our staff were forced to fight the attackers head-on,” Kanji said

Toursm and Wildlife CS Alfred Mutua has since broken silence about the incident saying that the goons were hired.
He however condemned the behavior noting that it will not be tolerated. He further said that a stern action is being taken.
“I have noted with concern the violence at Pinewood Beach Resort by hired goons. This behavior by receivers and auctioneers against hotels and restaurants will nit be tolerated. Stern action is being taken. Upholding law and civility are key to encourage and not deter visitor,” Mutua said in a statement
