Elsa Majimbo, a young Kenyan comedian living in the US, has hit back haters with a rather witty challenge.
The 22-year old took to her X account asking those who claim that she hates Kenya to provide a video of her making the remarks.
She said that she will give about Kshs152,000 to anyone who will provide the video.
“I will pay $1000 to anyone who can produce a video of me saying the words ‘I hate Kenya’,” she wrote.
She went on to explain why she was interested in the video, in her comments section.
“Everyone says I do when I don’t and have never said those words and I never will,” she insisted.
This comes just after she had revealed why she was forced to relocate from Kenya to US at the age of 19 years.
In a video, the 22-year old revealed that she was forced out of the country because of hate she received for being black.
“There was a lot of colorism. There is just a lot of colorism in Kenya. I faced a lot of it when I grew up but even before that, there were a lot of comments on ‘oh, you are so dark’, like ‘oh look at that tint’, she is so ugly, why because she is dark. There was so much of that, and when that started happening when I was growing up, I was like, I will never progress in this country with this kind of mentality,” she said.
According to her, the case is different in US.
“In the US, everyone is like, ‘Oh my God, look at your skin, it is so stunning, it looks like pearl, it’s shining.’ So why wouldn’t I not be paid in dollars?” she said.
She has since vowed to never to return in the country.
