Teacher Killed By Helicopter Propeller While Picking KCSE Exams

A teacher has died after being hit by a helicopter’s propeller in Garissa County.

The teacher, who was invigilating ongoing KCSE exams at Masalani secondary school in Ijara, met his death soon after picking the Tuesdays exam papers at the deputy county commissioner’s office.

“He was taking the papers to Masalani Secondary School and I think he moved nearer to where the helicopter was and he was struck as it took off,” Solomon Chesuti, the deputy County Commissioner told reporters.

He added that the police are handling the matter after his team processed the scene. Chesuti further said that the body of the deceased will be released for burial according to the Muslim traditions.

This however is the third incident involving helicopters this week. On Monday, a helicopter in Wajir crashed while going to collect exam papers .

The pilot and two passengers, including an MCA, who were on board sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

In a separate incident, a Kenya Army helicopter crashed while taking off at Wajir airport at 5.00pm.

The plane  was airlifting food and medicine to residents of Buna, Wajir North affected by floods.
