President William Ruto has surprised several Kenyans with phonecalls hours before delivering his address on the state of the nation.
Ruto made the calls while in his office at the statehouse.
He contacted Kenyans in Mombasa , Busia, Kisii, Garissa among other counties to make a followup on various matters.
“Hello…I am requesting to talk to Obuba Ondiek..I am William Ruto,” the president said while talking to a Kisii local.
The surprised local couldn’t hide his surprise as he broke into a laughter before exchanging pleasantries with the head of state.
Ruto proceeded to question him about his exact location and also how he was fairing on with his work.
“I am not a businessman, my job is to fix tiles, plumbing, fixing the interiors of houses,” Ondiek told the president.
Ruto further asked him if he was aware of hustler fund which he launched last year.
The Kisii resident confirmed that he heard about it when Ruto announced it for the first time. He was however among the unlucky ones who failed to receive the funds on their first request.
“I waited for 2-3 days, I tried again and was given a limit of Kshs1500. I wasn’t expecting that. I thought it was a joke. I told my wife and she wasn’t convinced saying that hustler fund cant give me such an amount as they don’t know me,” he responded.
Ruto also called a Bungoma resident asking her about affordable fertilizer that the government distributed to farmers.
