Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ruled out attending the State of the Nation Address by President William Ruto in parliament.
In a statement dated Thursday November 9, Sifuna attributed his snub to constutional requirements which stipulates that all members should be silent during the address.
He further argued that his decision alligns with his respect for the 2010 promulgated constitution.

The vocal legislator indicated that country’s situation was dire which needed fixing and that the Kenya Kwanza administration was still lagging behind.
Nairobi Senator accused Ruto of having an ingrained tendency of spewing lies which he could stomach during the State of the Nation Address.

The standing orders require that the head of state in an address to Parliament be heard in silence.
Two problems.
1. Ruto cannot be trusted to paint the true picture of the State of the Nation which as you know is dire.
2. I cannot sit quietly listening to lies.
For these reasons and out of respect for the institution of Parliament I shall not attend the state of the nation address.
It is not yet clear how many more Azimio legislators will skip the State of the Nation Address.
During the first address, a section of Azimio MPs walked out leaving their Kenya Kwanza counterpart.
