Government has now increased passport application fees and Visa.
In a gazette notice dated November 8, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced that the fee for an ordinary 66-page passport will increase from Ksh 7,500 to Ksh 12,000.
Meanwhile, the fee for an ordinary 34-page passport was revised upwards from Ksh 4,500 to Ksh 7,500.
The fee for a diplomatic 50-page document will now cost Ksh15,000 from Ksh7,500 while the ordinary 50 page document will hit Ksh9,500 from Ksh7,500
Other Charged
In the new revised charges, Interior Cabinet Secretary stated that replacing a lost passport will jump to Ksh20,000 from Ksh12,000.
The cost of replacing a mutilated passport was doubled to hit Ksh20,000.
Interior Ministry also revised upwards fees for a single visa from Ksh7,572 to Ksh15,145 while the fee for a multiple journey visa was increased from Ksh15,145 to Ksh75,725.
Meanwhile, extending a visa, which was initially free will now be charged Ksh 30,290 while the application for visas for Kenyan children which was also free will now be the same price.
The cost of applying temporary permit passport and a service passport has however not been hiked.
According to the Special Gazette notice, the new charges take effect immediately.
