Public Service CS Moses Kuria has asked former minister Francis Muthaura to intervene in the leadership wrangles that are facing Meru County after the county assembly impeached governor Kawira Mwangaza for a second time.
Kuria was speaking during the launch of Muthaura’s book, A Moving Horizon.
The former Gatundu South MP wondered why it only Mt. Kenya region that is notorious for impeaching governors.
“Ambassador I also want to ask you to spare some time and look with an eye of sympathy to what is happening to the great county of Meru. All is not well. I have counted that since the advent of devolution, Mt. Kenya region that includes Nairobi because half of Nairobi of the voters are from central region,  our county assemblies have impeached governors 9 times.
“Two of them in Meru, two times Wambora in Embu, Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga. Maybe it’s about time in the spirit of inclusivity, we let other regions also impeach their governors, why only us, is it only us who have got thieves,” Kuria said.
The CS added that he was pained by the occurrences in Meru county. He urged Muthaura, as the kingpin of the county, to bring the leaders together
“We are only one year since we went to elections. There’s not even one report from the Auditor General that is out. For me impeaching a woman who has gone into election and won makes me very sad because I know that is difficult. I know you are still the precision of Meru, you are Njuri Ncheke Please help the great county of Meru to reconcile put this leaders together, ask for our help if you need,” he said.
