Kenyans Make Fun Of Gachagua’s Absence During King  And Queen’s Statehouse Visit

Date:

King Charles III and his Queen Camilla are in the country.

The royal members, who are in the country for a 4-day state visit, arrived on Monday. They were received by Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, UK High Commissioner to Kenya Neil Wigan, among other dignitaries at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are visiting the country upon president Ruto’s invitation. The king is set to meet tech entrepreneurs and will also visit Mombasa.

On Tuesday, they were received at the statehouse by President William Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto and Mudavadi.

Deputy Peresident Rigathi Gachagua was however not present. This absence however did not go unnoticed as Kenyans have taken to social media to make fun of the situation, with different memes and comments.

“Hope Riggy G will not surface from somewhere and demand that King Charles III compensates Mau Mau and other freedom fighters. Anyway, may this trip yield a lot of economic success to Kenya. First Lady Rachel Ruto and President William Ruto looking sharp. Kenya will reap big,” Abuga Makori, a X user shared.

Another wrote, “Riggy G‘s story reminds me of the dark days where we had kufungiwa hadi wageni waende.”

Gachagua, who is also known as Riggy G, is however not currently in the country. Gachagua is reportedly on his way from Germany.

He left the country last week on Monday, alongside his wife and his envoy, to Belgium for a three-day visit, to represent President William Ruto at the Global Gateway Forum that was hosted by the European Commission in Brussels.

He also held talks with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen as well as meeting with Kenyans in the foreign land.

He then proceeded to Germany where he held talks on coffee, climate change, and renewable energy, among others matters.
