Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday, October 25 received a Ksh11.5 Billion ( 72 Million Euros) grant from the European Union under the Multiannual Action Plan 2023-2024.

According to the Second in Command, the European Union released the grant to help Kenya in its Green Transition, one of the key factors prioritized by President William Ruto’s administration to drive Environmental Sustainability and Resilience.

Besides helping in matters of the environment, Gachagua noted that the funds would help the country deepen its Democratic Governance, Peace, and Stability.

The funds will also help the Kenya Kwanza administration attain digital inclusion.

“On behalf of President William Ruto and the People of Kenya, we are immensely grateful to the European Union for being true to their commitment to financial support to our development Agenda,” Gachagua stated after receiving the grant.

The remittance of the grant showed commitment from the Kenya Kwanza administration to strengthen relations with international bodies.

The relations according to various experts are critical in helping President Ruto address some issues, especially in terms of development and fixing the economy.

His predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta capitalized on positive relations with the international communities to drive development, especially in terms of infrastructure.
