Date:

Days after Anne Adhiambo Akinyi, the main suspect in the gruesome murder of Nairobi Hospital Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo, was arrested, a breakthrough was found in setting up the trial.

According to Citizen TV, age and mental assessment conducted at the Mathari Hospital confirmed that the suspect was not a minor.

Adhiambo was presented before the court on a miscellaneous application on September 27, where the court granted the prosecution 21 days to hold her pending conclusion of investigations.

The new findings are expected to be presented in court after the lapse of 21 days granted to the prosecution side.

Akinyi was captured on CCTV escaping from the scene of Maigo’s murder on the morning of October 15 in the Jamhuri area of Nairobi.

She was arrested at the Olympic area in Kibra after efforts by detectives were backed by members of the public who provided intelligence on her whereabouts.

Adhiambo stands accused of being behind the gruesome murder of Maigo whose lifeless body was found in his house bearing 25 stab wounds.

She recorded a statement after her arrest in Kibera.
