A penthouse that was constructed on top of rental apartments has been making rounds on social media since last weekend
The house that has left netizens talking is located in Zimmerman, Nairobi and it belongs to one Elaine Ombasi, a Kenyan nurse who also operates in US.
The penthouse boasts of four bedrooms, laundry room and pantry.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, Ombasi said that she came up with the idea to maximize her space.
“Actually when one has one plot, you have to find a way to maximize it. The way they are saying it on the internet kill two birds with one stone. I wanted a house to live in and also I wanted something to make extra income and that’s how I got the idea whereby apartments would be in the bottom and then on top I would be able to build my house,” she said.
After coming up with the idea, she contacted her builder who told her that it was possible to implement the project.
“He told me the cost, how long it would take and what to expect and he surely delivered it, ” she said.
Construction of the whole building from bottom took four years. The project was completed in June this year.
Ombasi further said that the building is safe as she invested well in the foundations as well as building materials.
“They are fully bedsitters and they are all occupied. The penthouse is very private its very quiet because I am on top. The perimeter wall is very firm and stable whereby even if they do their parties and I do mine no one can hear each other because of the structure.
“The foundation itself we made sure for it to go further than the normal foundations and also the materials hakuna kukata kona I had the best engineer, technicians,” she affirmed.
She further said that living on the top of the house with her husband children was one way of telling her tenants to trust the safety of the building.
” For me to be up here is to tell that I trust it. Me and my husband when we are up here its like reassuring everybody it’s stable,” Ombasi said.
