Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza alleged that members of the county assembly (MCAs) were being coerced by their parties into tabling an impeachment motion for a second time.
Addressing the section of the press on Friday, September 29, the Meru Governor claimed that some MCAs had revealed in confidence that the whole plan was being orchestrated by mysterious political forces.
“You have heard about the impeachment, I have been talking to the MCAs to understand the problem… after calling many MCAs, they say they are being pushed by political parties,” Mwangaza stated.
According to the governor, some MCAs confided to her expressing fears of being kicked out of their parties for not supporting the impeachment bid.
Mwangaza however dismissed the impeachment calls maintaining that she has been working well with MCA.
She challenged the MCAs to find substantial evidence before tabling and impeachment motion which she insisted she was ready to defend herself.
“You can’t get an answer without a formula, you can’t impeach without grounds,” she insisted.
Mwangaza has been clashing with her Deputy Isaac Mutuma, whom she accused of sabotaging her work.
Following their fallout, Mutuma was summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following violence at Governor Mwangaza’s Baite Family Fellowship Okolea program in Igembe South.
During the chaos, Mwangaza’s donations were damaged by protesters, prompting Interior Cabinet Secretary CS Kithure Kindiki to ban the outreach program, citing insecurity.
