Strathmore University Hires Ruto’s Son in Law

President William Ruto’s son-in-law Dr Alexander Ezenagu, is now a senior research fellow at Strathmore University Business School.

According to a statement released by Strathmore, Ezenagu will lead the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) Policy and Development Centre as the center’s first Director.

The institution of higher learning noted that the appointment was vital in scaling up research and fostering excellence in trade and investment.

“Dr Ezenagu, a distinguished scholar and expert in international law, trade, investment, and tax, joins Strathmore University Business School with a wealth of experience that spans academia, legal practice, and research. With a Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L) from McGill University and a Masters in Commercial Law from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, Dr Ezenagu brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in the areas of trade and investment,” Strathmore stated.

“With Dr Alexander Ezenagu at the helm, the AfCFTA Policy Centre is poised to make significant contributions to the realization of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement’s transformative potential,” the institution added.

Ezenagu who married President Ruto’s daughter, June Ruto in 2021, vowed to use his expertise to drive academic growth in the institution.

“I am thrilled to join Strathmore University and lead the AfCFTA Policy Centre in its mission to promote economic integration in Africa. The AfCFTA represents a historic opportunity for the continent, and I am committed to leveraging our expertise to support its successful implementation,” Ezenagu stated.

June Ruto’s husband specializes in international tax law, domestic taxes, and commercial aspects of illicit financial flows.

Ezenagu also teaches Global Economic Law and Governance, Global Legal Ethics, and the Law of Taxation.

Before his appointment, he was among the frequent visitors at State House. He attended several occasions especially after Ruto won the 2022 Presidential Elections.
