A gruesome and shocking incident has shocked the Nairobi Hospital community as their Finance Director, Eric Maigo, was found brutally murdered with 16 stab wounds at his city home in Woodley Estate, Nairobi County according to initial reports.
Police have launched an investigation into the horrifying crime, which has left both colleagues and neighbors in disbelief.
The grim discovery was made on Friday, September 15th, when Eric Maigo’s lifeless body was found in his residence, surrounded by a pool of blood.
According to authorities, Mr. Maigo had sustained 10 stab wounds to his chest and an additional six on his sides, suggesting a particularly brutal and vicious attack.
Kilimani Police Station boss Moss Ndiwa confirmed the incident and revealed that it appeared the assailant had approached from behind. As of now, the police are still piecing together the details of the crime, but they suspect the involvement of a female friend of the deceased.
According to the Kilimani police chief, the attacker seems to have fled through a window immediately after committing the gruesome murder. Eyewitnesses reported hearing Mr. Maigo in severe distress, but the woman in the house allegedly refused to open the door before making her escape, leaving the crime scene.
“We are still on the case, but the neighbors said they heard him groaning in pain, and the woman who was in the house refused to open the door, but had escaped when police arrived,” said Mr. Ndiwa. The police are actively investigating the case and are in pursuit of a suspect who has yet to be identified.
Earlier in the day, the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, James Nyamongo, issued a heartfelt memo to staff members, informing them of the tragic loss of their colleague.
“This morning we received the shocking news of the death of our staff member, Mr. Eric Maigo, who was our Ag. Director of Finance. Unconfirmed reports we have at the moment are that Eric’s lifeless body was found by neighbors at his house at 6 am this morning,” Mr. Nyamongo wrote in the memo addressed to all hospital staff.
Mr. Nyamongo further mentioned that the family had been notified of the incident, and the police had taken over the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
The CEO paid tribute to Eric Maigo as a dedicated and invaluable member of the hospital staff, emphasizing his contributions to the success of Nairobi Hospital. He also urged everyone to keep Eric’s grieving family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
“He was a dedicated member of staff who gave his best for the success of Nairobi Hospital. Let us all keep his family in our prayers as they go through this difficult time,” Mr. Nyamongo said.
