The Public Service Commission on Tuesday, September 5 advertised 1000 internship positions in the State Department for Basic Education.
According to the poster successful candidates will be appointed and deployed to schools at the subcounty level, where, in addition to acquiring practical skills and knowledge, the interns will play a critical role in supporting virtual learning and other related digital platforms.
“The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education has declared 1,000 vacancies for internship under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP), Cohort 3,” the advert read in part.
Public Service Commission noted in the advert that the internship will last for 12 months.
Interested and qualified applicants are requested to make their applications online through the Public Service Commission’s job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by September 25, 2023.
Requirements For Appointment
For appointment to this internship position, a candidate must have graduated not earlier than 2019, and be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education with specialization in Information Communication Technology or a Bachelor’s degree in ICT; or a Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education from a recognised institution.
Besides that, candidates must also have knowledge in networking and infrastructure, applications development, and information security project management. This will help them integrate ICT with Education in terms of E-Learning and content development.
Successful applicants must also be able to carry out research and innovation to support the DLP; and Willing to be deployed to any Sub County Education office within the country on a full-time basis.
Internship Duties and Responsibilities
Interns will support E-Learning and content development in line with the schemes of work Providing class support and training of Primary School teachers in the use of digital literacy devices.
They will also support the implementation of the Digital Learning Programme. Further, they will carry out innovations to enable schools to improve on use of digital learning.
“Providing support in the safe, secure and ethical use of technology in learning. Assisting teachers by integrating ICT in the delivery of teaching, learning and assessment. Supporting school staff with development and production of key school policies and procedures Providing first line support and maintenance of ICT services in the schools,” PSC indicated.
Stipend
The interns will be paid a stipend by the State Department, at a rate as determined by the Government Certificate
On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate Department.
