China Square owner, Cheng Lei says on a bad day the store sells Ksh 10 Million

Date:

China Square business owner, Cheng Lei says, Kenyans continue to be exploited by business owners who sell ordinary items at exorbitant prices.

Lei Cheng, also known as Charlie, has revealed that his business, which is located in Kenyatta University’s Unicity mall, is thriving.

In an interview with Nation, Lei Cheng stated that he opened his shop in Kenya on January 29, 20223 and sold over Ksh 20 million two weeks later.

The business, which has become the hottest topic of conversation, is now making others business owners worried as thousands flock China Square at KU.

“The shop is only a month old. We sell goods worth Sh10 million on a bad day “Cheng explains.

Moses Kuria, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, has blamed Fred Matiang’i for the confusion surrounding the China Square store at Unicity Mall on Thika Road.

Kuria alleged the former Interior Secretary was the one who granted permits to Chinese merchants at the mall.

“Dear Fred Okengo Matiangi,” he writes. “Why did you issue work permits to the Chinese traders at Unicity’s China Square?” he asked on Twitter.

According to the majority of Kenyans online, the store is currently the city’s cheapest supermarket.

Due to the low prices of its goods and products, the supermarket has attracted a large number of customers.

In recent weeks, Nairobi residents have been singing the praises of China Square.

Kuria had previously stated that he wanted China Square out of the Kenyan market before bringing in Matiang’i.
