KDF was involved in the settlement of the IDPs in Kibumba.
After a relocation exercise was held in Kibumba on Sunday, 25 December, hundreds of IDPs were blessed this Christmas with a peaceful day of family time and festivities.
Local leaders participated in the exercise with the backing of the Kenyan contingent of the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF), which was deployed in the region on December 23, 2022, after M23 withdrew in accordance with the communiqué from the Luanda mini-summit on November 23, 2022.
A methodical IDP return, largely from the Kinyaruchinya IDP camp on the outskirts of Goma town, was organized by the local elders with the help of EACRF troops.
They also built focal points through the “Nyumba Kumi” system for group efforts to bring about peace and stability in the Eastern DRC.
