Family gathers as football legend Pele fights for life in hospital

Date:

Family members visited Pele at the Sao Paulo hospital.

As stated in a social media post by his daughter, the great Pele’s family paid him a visit on Saturday at the hospital in Sao Paulo where he is battling cancer, as well as kidney and cardiac complications.

On Christmas Eve, Pele’s son Edinho arrived to the medical facility where he joined his sisters Flavia and Kely Nascimento. Edinho was recently chosen as coach of Serie B football team Londrina.

“I would like to be present, but I am committed to my mission here. I’m not a doctor, I couldn’t really help much,” he said.

Kely shared a photo hugging her father in his hospital bed saying, “one more night together”.

The hospital reported on Wednesday that Pele needed “more comprehensive attention to combat kidney and heart failure” since his colon cancer was “progressing”.

Kely also shared a photo of Marcia Aoki, Pele’s wife, and other family members gathered at the hospital where he is receiving treatment.

“Almost all of us. Merry Christmas. Gratitude, love, union, family. The essence of Christmas. We thank you all for all the love and light you send us,” Kely captioned it.
