In June 2022, Maxine Wahome was honored for becoming the first woman to win the WRC3 at the age of 26.
Maxine Wahome, a well-known rally motorist, was released from detention after posting a KSH 100,000 cash bond after being accused of assaulting her partner Asad Khan.
The magistrate turned down the police’s request to keep Maxine Wahome in custody for an additional 14 days while she awaits trial for grievous bodily harm to Asad Khan on Wednesday while she attended the in court session.
However, she has been told to show up every Thursday at Kilimani Police Station to meet with the investigating officer until the matter is resolved.
Khan, Maxine’s boyfriend, is still unconscious and in serious condition at the high dependency unit,HDU, according to a report presented to the court.
Khan allegedly suffered a serious cut on his ankle, which Maxine Wahome is blamed for inflicting and causing his current life threatening situation.
After the altercation, Maxine was detained after Khan’s brother called the police to report the attack.
A bloody area and broken glasses were discovered in the home during the arrest. Maxine claimed via her attorneys that she is the victim, not the attacker, and that her lover injured himself when he was fighting her.
Khan is still asleep and unable to speak.
