Date:

Wafula Wakoli has beaten UDA and Azimio candidates in Bungoma Senate elections.

Wafula Wakoli, a Ford Kenya candidateĀ in the Bungoma Senatorial by-elections, is the winner in the battle to replace Moses Wetangula who is now theĀ speaker of the National Assembly.

Mwambu Mabonga of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Wakoli’s closest rival, received 45,907 votes, while Wakoli received 66,032 votes.

In the repeat-polls, Wafula Wamunyinyi, who was presented as Azimio la Umoja’s contestant, came third spot with 20,519 votes.

Wakoli declared that he was excited to begin carrying out his campaign promises and putting Kenya Kwanza’s agenda into action quickly after the announcement of the results.

“I am eager to start working for my people of Bungoma. It was not easy but I want to thank my footsoldiers here in Bungoma,” Wafula Wakoli says.

“David Wafula Wakoli has served in my office for the past ten years with total diligence, humility, respect and great honour. Throughout the period I have worked with him, I have never found him in any indiscipline acts,” Wetangula revealed on their campaigns to boost Wafula’s chances of winning the Bungoma Senate seat.

After capturing a number of positions in the August elections, Ford Kenya’s victory isĀ yet another demonstration of the party’s firm control over Bungoma County.
