James Ongwaye, former Kisii governor, who served for two terms has officially quit Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM).
The ex-governor together with the former women representative of that county Janet Ong’era quits the part saying they are not being treated well.
Speaking at Nairobi Hotel at a press briefing on Thursday, the two said they quit based on an ill treatment from the party during the general elections period. He claims that he together with his supporters was not treated well.
“We as members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have today decided conscientiously to resign from the ODM party with immediate effect,” said Ongwaye.
“We have today arrived at this decision having carefully taken stock of the activities preceding the last general election and more so the ill manner the party treated us and our supporters through political patronage by individuals who never had the interest of our community at heart,” he added.
The two leaders were strongholds in the ODM Party with Janet Ongera as the deputy chairperson for the ODM Party. Ongwaye has however thanked the party for giving him a chance to serve them.
“It has been an honour serving in ODM we regret nothing but we move to the next phase with a clear mind on how better as a country we can manage our political affairs before and after elections.” said the governor who served Kisii for two terms.
The two have promised to give their next move in the political journey as soon as possible through a press statement.
“We will soon issue a press statement on our next political journey,” said Ongwaye.
