Former president Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Amollo Odinga might not attend the Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Uhuru Gardens Memorial Park.
On many occasions, Raila Odinga and the likes of Francis Atwoli attended the Mashujaa day during President Uhuru’s reign especially the second term.
However, the two senior leaders (Raila and Uhuru) might not attend today’s event because of president Ruto’s decision to invite Miguna Miguna at the function.
The exiled lawyer has been an ardent critic of the handshake brothers and it is believed they may not share the same podium anytime soon. Miguna refers to former president Uhuru Kenyatta as a despot while Raila Odinga as a conman.
Miguna who arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Thursday morning will be attending the national event before later proceeding to the Statehouse Kenya where he will pay a courtesy call to President William Ruto and first lady Rachel Ruto.
An invite shared by the lawyer revealed an invitation by the government of Kenya to attend the event which will commence at 10.30 am.
After the event, the lawyer will proceed for a luncheon in statehouse at 1.30PM. Miguna shared an invite for the luncheon too.
“From the JKIA to #MashujaaDay. Then to @StateHouseKenya. Patriots are FREE to be at the JKIA. Freedom is here! Cheers.” Read his tweet.
In the meantime, Miguna upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport thanked president Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua for enabling him to return to his motherland after many years of exile.
“Without this administration I would not be back home for sure. I am thanking His Excellency the president, the deputy president and his administration and everybody else who has worked tirelessly to make sure that my rights are protected and the rights of every other Kenya.” He spoke.
