Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday announced that he had offered a job to Ivy Chelimo, a former University student who came up with the name Riggy G.
Gachagua made the remarks while at a function in Kajiado County and was in the company of Chelimo.
“This girl is called Ivy. She changed my name from Rigathi Gachagua to Riggy G. I have looked for her and gave her a job in my office,” Gachagua said as he invited Ivy to make a few remarks.
The former law student revealed that Gachagua offered her a job on Monday morning.
In a separate Interview. She shared details of the job that she landed.
According to her, after meeting with Gachagua, he asked her what she wanted and what she was currently involved in before the job offer came.
“He asked me what I wanted, what I was doing, would you be interested in joining the communication team. I think I really needed a job because at the end of the day I just finished university I needed something to pay the bills,” she said in a YouTube interview with Vincent Mboya. She added that she accepted the job.
In a previous interview, Chelimo revealed that she came up with the name Riggy G during the deputy presidential debate in July. She said that she was avoiding using the politicians’ actual names because of the traction it would have brought to her Twitter Account.
