Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has revealed plans of giving out his September salary to Kimilili locals.
Through social media, he revealed that he was willing to distribute the Ksh1 million that he was paid because there is nothing that he has done for his people since being re-elected.
“My people of Kimilili, I am grateful you voted for me. However since the election, there is nothing constructive that I have done for you. I don’t deserve any salary. So I will bring you the Kshs1 million I have been paid as this month’s salary. If you see me in Kimilili, come and take it,” he said.
The move was welcomed by a few people, while others noted that the amount was too little for the locals as others busted him for lying in broad daylight.
“Very nice Muheshimiwa/law student, though my periscope eye view is the court order of not being within certain precedence of Kimilili still stands et al.” a netizen told him.
It is in the public domain that Barasa was barred by the court from setting foot in Bungoma county, where Kimilili constituency is located, following the murder case that he is facing over fear of witness interference. Therefore it is likely that none of the locals would benefit from the salary.
The lawmaker is accused of killing Brian Olunga, an aide of Brian Khaemba who was his main opponent in the August 9 general elections.
It is alleged that he shot the deceased on his forehead while at a polling station on the election day moments after the voting process had been concluded.
He was however released on a Ksh10 million bond after denying the charges against him.
