Two Women Stranded In Nairobi After Walking From Sugoi To Meet And Witness Ruto’s Inauguration

Date:

Two women, Evelyne Chepkemei and Eunice Tabut have been left stranded in Nairobi after walking all the way from Sugoi, in Uasin Gishu County to the capital city to witness the swearing in of William Ruto on September 13.

The two women embarked on the long journey with nothing else but a cart with some of their stuff and it took them five days to arrive at their destination.

Three weeks later, their mission of physically meeting with the fifth president is yet to be achieved but they have not lost hope.

“I came for the inauguration of Ruto, after that I went to the statehouse with my cart and I was asked if I had an appointment. I was then told to go and wait  in Karen. I left my cart in Karen waiting for the appointment, until now I have not met Ruto. My major aim of meeting Ruto was to hand him this cart and shake his hand, talk to him and pray together with him because of Kenya Kwanza victory,” Evelyne said.

On the other hand, her escort, Eunice said that they are being hosted by a good Samaritan in Nairobi. She added that they want to see the president before they can head back home.

“I reside in Sugoi. I accompanied my sister Evelyn to witness Kenya Kwanza’s victory in Kasarani. We traveled for five days and when we left Kasarani we were very tired, our feet were sore. Gladly, we met a good Samaritan who is hosting us for the three weeks. We are expecting to meet with Ruto. We were very patient when he left for the burial of Queen Elizabeth and he is back, but we are yet to meet him, we are requesting to see him so that we can go back home,” Eunice said.
