Details Of Raila’s Meeting With DP Gachagua Moments After They Lodged Scathing Attacks On State Institutions

Date:

A photo has surfaced on social media showing ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua embroiled in a conversation.

The two leader met while on a trip from Mombasa to Nairobi on Friday morning although it is not clear what their discussion was centered on. They reportedly bumped into each other at the VIP lounge at the Moi International airport in Mombasa.

We have tremendous respect for our senior citizens. I was delighted this morning to have a tete a tete with our senior citizen former Prime Minister Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga in Mombasa,” the DP said. on Facebook.

Gachagua was in Mombasa for the induction of governors while Raila was in the county for the swearing in  of Abdulswamad Nassir as the second governor of the county.

Their meeting comes just hours after they both made scathing attacks on government institutions.

Gachagua attacked DCI while Raila went for the Judiciary.

In his speech at the induction of governors, Gachagua told DCI officers to keep off government offices and wait for crimes to be reported at their offices in Kiambu, accusing them of intimidating and harassing elected leaders.

“We have told DCI to return to Kiambu road and wait for crimes to be reported there. They have no business in government offices hovering all over and creating a toxic environment for service delivery. We cannot have detectives in government offices because they poison the atmosphere for civil servants to deliver,” the DP said.

On the other hand, Raila slammed the Martha Koome-led team, and threatened to lead a protest of a million Kenyans to remove them from office for dismissing presidential petitions yet all evidence pointed that the presidential election was bungled.

“I see them protesting giving threats… we will talk, the constitution of this country gives power to the people of Kenya. All those people exercising power are exercising donated power and the Judiciary is no exception. If they become wrong the people of Kenya have the power to send home,” Raila said.
