Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is back in the country after spending a couple of days on a tour in Zanzibar with his family after losing in the general election as well as the presidential petition.
The ODM leader revealed that he had gone on the tour to recuperate while addressing guests during Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Nassir’s luncheon, that came after his swearing in at Mama Ngina waterfront in Mombasa.
“I went to recuperate in Zanzibar. I took my wife, children and grandchildren out of the shock they got. I came this morning from Zanzibar and arrived late than expected. I was not able to be with you at the swearing-in (of Abdulswamad), but here I am,” Raila said.
He however used the opportunity to slam the Judiciary following the outcome of the presidential elections, adding that they are however waiting to see what the detailed ruling that Supreme Court judges promised to give in 21 days will be about.
Raila faulted the court’s move to dismiss their petition yet their legal team tabled evidence clearly showing how the elections were bungled.
“But we as people of Azimio are shocked. My fear is that if the people saw what happened on September 5, it is what they expect in 2027. I am wondering why should people wake up in the morning to go and que to vote when at the end of the day it is the mercenary from Venezuela called Mr. Jose Carmago who eventually decides who becomes president in this country.
“Then you show the court Jose Carmago’s signature and all the evidence but the court says that is not an issue. Shame on the Judiciary of this country,” the former prime minister ranted.
He further addressed the Judiciary’s warning on sponsored attacks targeting Supreme Court judges while giving details of the action that they might take against it.
“I see them protesting giving threats… we will talk, the constitution of this country gives power to the people of Kenya. All those people exercising power are exercising donated power and the Judiciary is no exception. If they become wrong the people of Kenya have the power to send home.
“We can lead a one million match to the Judiciary and tell them to go home and they would have no choice but to go home, So the judiciary should not threaten, blackmail the people of the country after the mess they have done,” Raila said.
