Oscar Sudi, the Kapseret MP on Monday, June 8 tore into President Uhuru Kenyatta when he convened a press conference to address various issues including the campaign to impeach National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale.
Sudi alleged that the drive initiated by Kieni MP Kanini Kega to collect signatures seeking support Duale’s ouster was a hoax, claiming that it was orchestrated by the President.
He claimed that a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting at State House, Nairobi on June 2 saw Uhuru hesitate for about five minutes after announcing the removal of former Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali and his deputy Cecily Mbarire, as if he was contemplating whether or not to axe Duale as well.
Sudi further alleged that during the meeting at State House, Uhuru insulted them and threatened them using a chilling story about his father, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
Sudi claimed that it had become apparent that those opposed to Ruto would stop at nothing to “finish him and his allies,” politically.
“I don’t always get along with Duale. There are some things we don’t agree on. But if there’s a leader who has worked and fought against the opponents of Jubilee in Parliament, it is Duale.
“He has never done contrary to what is expected of him by the President or the party. I have to defend him.
“When you called us to State House, you should have announced his removal and stopped this nonsense. You talked about Mbarire, Washiali and hesitated for five minutes as if you were scared. Then you come using the backdoor with the likes of Kanini Kega when it is actually you,” he asserted.
According to Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya who advised Duale to consider resigning, Kega’s motion had garnered the support of 126 MPs as of Sunday, June 7.
Sudi claimed that at State House, Uhuru recounted to the Jubilee lawmakers a story he was told by an old man about his father.
Sudi alleged that Uhuru told them that a man told him that he looked like his father, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, but acted like his mother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
This, the old man explained, is because when Mzee Jomo Kenyatta drew his knife, it came back with blood. The old man was insinuating that unlike his father, Uhuru lacked a certain ruthlessness.
Sudi claimed that investigative agencies were looking into all known associates of Ruto, reiterating that he was ready to be arrested at any time.
The furious MP further demanded that churches be opened as part of a larger re-opening of the economy under strict social distancing regulations.
Sudi claimed that the continued closure of churches was due to the fear in some quarters that Ruto would use the pulpit to further his campaigns for President in 2022.
“I want to tell Kenyans that they haven’t refused to re-open churches because they won’t observe social distancing, they’ve refused because they fear Ruto will go to speak.
“My friend, even if you close it for one year, you cannot close it forever. You will have to open because we all miss church,” he stated.
