Fight For Jobs Threatens To Tear Kenya Kwanza Apart Even Before Ruto’s Swearing In

Date:

There are internal fights within the Kenya Kwanza coalition with president elect William Ruto finding it difficult to balance the two camps.

The fight according to credible sources is between those who started supporting Kenya Kwanza when Ruto was facing it rough and those who just joined recently.

Those who joined recently have been divided into two namely: those who joined a few weeks to election and those who joined after he was declared president elect by the chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Mr. Wafula Chebukati.

According to this source, there are those who feel that late comers such as immediate Machakos governor Alfred Mutua and former Kilifi governor Amason Kingi are likely to benefit more than those who started supporting Ruto a long time ago.

Specifically, Aisha Jumwa is reportedly unhappy that Amason Kingi has gotten a better deal in Ruto’s government yet he just joined him a few weeks to the election having opposed his bid on a number of occasions.

Sources close to Aisha Jumwa have revealed that she expects nothing less than a cabinet secretary position because she feels she contributed much to Ruto in his campaigns at the coast especially in Kilifi county.

The second group that is causing jitters in Kenya Kwanza are those who crossed to William Ruto’s side after he was declared the winner. Amongst them are Mandera governor Ali Roba, former Kisi governor James Ongwae, former Kisii woman rep Janet Ongera,Purity wangui Ngirici amongst many losers in the just concluded general election from the Azimio side.

More worrying is even the promise by Ruto that women would form 50% of his government and that will only leave 11 cabinet positions to be shared by men out of the 22. To make it worse, there are those who lost the election and the president elect has to reward them whether he likes it or not. They include Moses Kuria, Kabogo, Waititu, Hassan Omar and Cleophas Malala who lost Mombasa and Kakamega gubernatorial seats respectively.
