Crisis Meeting In Karen After President-Elect Loses Kakamega, Mombasa, Kitui, Kacheliba And Pokot South To Azimio

Date:

Sonko News has learnt from highly credible sources that all is not well in William Ruto’s camp following dismal performance in Kakamega, Mombasa, Kitui Rural, kacheliba and Pokot South.

Apparently, those around Ruto have called for a crisis meeting to discuss the outcomes of the mini polls in the just concluded elections.

It is said that the Kenya Kwanza fraternity are a worried lot because they sold the narrative that whoever is declared president elect would easily win 90% of the seats in the elections held on Monday. Specifically, the Kenya Kwanza leaders were confident that they would grab Mombasa and Kakamega from Raila Odinga.

More worrying according to the source is the fact that the outcomes of these elections may have long term consequences on the performance of either Raila or Ruto in case the Supreme court nullifies the election.

According to the source in Karen, they have admitted that the good performance by Azimio on these mini polls have just given their supporters hopes that indeed they can still win in case a rerun is called.

The source added that they were sure of winning since they were convinced beyond reasonable doubts that Azimio supporters would not turn out to vote since they were discouraged following the loss by Raila Odinga in the general elections.

At some point, lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi even confessed some days back that whoever was declared president elect would between Ruto and Raila would be victorious in Kakamega and Mombasa.

Also worrying Ruto’s camp is the latest decision by the Supreme court to strike out petitions by the Gatundu South member of parliament Moses Kuria and allow the Law Society of Kenya, the other IEBC commissioners and the Attorney general to be involved in the case as amicus Curiae. President elect William Ruto had filed a case urging the supreme court not to entertain these bodies since it would work to his disadvantage.

Consequently, the meeting in Karen is said to be strategizing on how to deal with the outcome of any supreme court decision and how best to maintain their support at the coastal region and Kakamega having lost the gubernatorial positions to Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement. Most importantly, it is reported that the president elect is praying hard so that the court does not find Chebukati of committing any electoral offense because the whole process of recruiting another commission chair may take another year for Kenya to have another election.

Wiper Party’s David Mwalika has retained his Kitui Rural MP after defeating his challenger Charles Nyamai of UDA. Mwalika got 19,735 votes against Nyamai’s 10,178. On the other hand, Kenya Union Party’s David Pkosing successfully defended his Pokot parliamentary seat after garnering  28,225 votes against UDA candidate Simon Kalekem with 15,298 votes. On their side, Paul Chebor of UDA won the Rongai parliamentary seat after defeating Raymond Moi of KANU.

Azimio also won the Kacheliba parliamentary seat after Titus Lotee of Kenya Union Party (KUP) defeated Mark Lomunokol of UDA. This means that the azimio side have an extra of three MPS in parliament while Kenya kwanza only have one in the just concluded mini polls.
