Club 1824 temporarily closes after flouting Covid-19 rules

Date:

A popular entertainment joint along Lang’ata road has announced a temporary shutdown. Club 1824 announced the move after being put on the spotlight for flouting the social distancing rules put in place by the Ministry of Health.

According to a statement shared on the club’s social media accounts, it will be closing down for renovations. There was, however, no indication or details on when the entertainment joint will re-open for business.

The joint has been on the spot in recent days after party-goers were seen partying at Langata club on Madaraka Day. The locals who had flocked the joint were heavily condemned by Kenya’s emergency response committee.

A video of a large crowd enjoying themselves was shared on Twitter showing how locals ignored the safety measures by the Ministry of Health.

The National Emergency Response Committee (NERC) led by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe put out a statement on Wednesday, June 3, condemning the acts.

NERC in their statement referred to the owner of the club as a greedy person who did not care whether people contracted the virus or not.
