Deputy president William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza colleagues took their campaigns to Bungoma county on Monday July 11.
Ruto was accompanied by Bungoma senator Moses Wetang’ula, former Bungoma women rep Catherine Wambilianga , Senate speaker Ken Lusaka, Ben Chekwanda, Jaguar among others.
While at Kimaeti in Bumula constituency, Ruto wondered why his opponents were bashing him because his father is not known.
According to him, they are only bringing up the question of his father now, but when he supported them previously none of such an issue was ever raised.
“I supported Raila until he became the prime minister, Uhuru Kenyatta as well until he became the president. Right now they have ganged up fighting against me because my father is not known. Now I am asking them, when I was supporting them, why did they not ask who my father was?” Ruto posed adding that he was the one who is vying not his father.
“I am the one asking for votes and you know me. Where does the issue of my father come from,” the second in command added.
Ruto further lectured those who call Raila Baba questioning if they don’t have fathers at their homes.
“Everyone has a father at their home now that we have refused to refer to the Kitendawili guy as Baba, why should we call Baba someone whom we have met on the road, Don’t you have a father at your home?” he posed.
The question of Ruto’s father has been a subject of discussion for quite some time with Azimio supporters wondering what he was doing when the likes of Jomo Kenyatta and Jaramogi were fighting for freedom.
“Where was Ruto’s father when brave fathers were fighting and dying for the nation? I want to see something. This is why some fathers raised thieves while others raised liberation heroes. They had people to mentor them,” one said on Twitter.
