Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has left Kenyans utterly shocked after a video of him proceeding with campaigns after an accident occurred right beside him emerged on social media.
Momanyi who is eyeing the Nyamira gubernatorial seat on a Wiper Party ticket was on a campaign trail at Nyaramba when the incident occurred.
While atop his campaign vehicle, he urged the locals to send home the elderly leaders.
“We will carry [victory] at dawn so that we sent the elderly home,” he said.
As he continued politicking, a van came from the back running over two people who were on a motorbike, thus tossing them in the air before they fell on the ground.
The two were part of the crowd that the lawmaker was addressing. They had just stopped a few steps from Momanyi’s car.
At first, Momanyi was not aware what had happened and only got to be alerted by people’s screams. With that however, he continued with his address as he attempted to get a glimpse of the impact of the unfortunate incident.
He however called upon his people to find someone to check on the injured men before switching to his Kisii dialect.
Following the incident, several people have called for the arrest of the lawmaker as others condemn his action.
“These politicians don’t care even if you die next to them . This is Ben Momanyi , MP Borabu Constituency who proceeds campaigning while a serious reckless driver passes him and hits a civilian. So wrong on so many levels!” Kwamboka shared on Twitter.
“@DCI_Kenya and @NPSOfficial_KE, Hon. Ben Momanyi should be charged for this reckless and careless driving. Human life no longer matters to some of these leaders,” Naftali Obwocha said.
