Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho has called out Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru and the county’s assembly majority leader Kamau Murango accusing them of paying youths to disrupt Martha Karua’s campaigns mid this week.
Karua was heckled by youths who shouted UDA as she championed for Azimio during her home coming rally in Kirinyaga barely days after she was named the running mate of Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
A brave Karua however asked the rowdy youths to tell those who had sent them to come in person and face her instead of paying them to disrupt her rally.
Speaking at a function in Gichugu on Friday, Kibicho vowed to deal with the hooligans while asking leaders to plan their meetings instead of disrupting those of their competitors.
“Hooligans in Kirinyaga must be dealt with because we can not have a Kirinyaga where there is no law and order. Plan your meeting and come and sell your agendas to the citizens, if they want them, they will elect you and if they don’t want them they will abandon you,” he said
Kibicho also asked the two leaders to show themselves instead of hiding behind the youths that they pay to cause chaos in their opponents’ rallies
“What are the insults for? You come here to get the youths drunk with alcohol and bhang, and it is Waiguru and Murango, we don’t want to hide and I don’t fear them. Stop hiding, come in the open, come with them in a field like this so that we face each other one on one instead of giving them 100 bob to ruin people’s gatherings and you are calling yourself a leader,” the PS said.
Kibicho further said that he as well as other civil servants are behind Karua to ensure that her campaigns in Kirinyaga and anywhere else across the country are not interrupted.
