Easter activities were suspended at the Claretian Institute of Philosophy, in Southeastern Nigeria, after a student died during the reenactment of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
25-year old Sule Ambrose was playing the role of Peter, one of the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ in the play ‘Passion of Christ’ when the incident occurred.
According to sources, the first year student collapsed during the performance of the play on Friday and those around thought that it was part of the drama. They later discovered the seriousness of the situation when he could not get up.
“Initially when it happened we thought it was a joke, and that it was part of the drama, it was when he could not get up that was when we knew it was a serious matter and he was rushed to hospital,” said a witness.
Other sources claim that he collapsed to the floor after saying the words “Lord, today I die with” and he started bleeding.
“SULE Ambrose, a Catholic seminarian of the Claretian Missionary Fathers died in the seminary during the Passion Play on Good Friday He was acting the personality of Peter Immediately he reproduced the words of Peter “…Lord, today I’ll die with you” he made few step and fell,” read a tweet by Austyn Mario.
Sule, who was studying to become a priest, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
